A shot of my home PC with comments after I modified it.

Just a shot with some notes of what components are/were noisy in my home PC.

The old chassis fan was a 8 cm, no-name, noisy s*cker…I mean bl*wer. Replaced it with a 12 cm, dust proof and silent AcoustiFan. It was a bit too big too fit, but with some violence and some straps instead of bolts, it works beautifully! In normal mode, I can’t hear it! But that might be the power supply that drows it. Next thing to rip out of the tower is that power supply. Hopefully, I will get the new one next week!
The PC - about one year old - is a HP Pavillion 1060.se, and I will NEVER buy a PC out of the box from a “major” brand in the future! Too much components are of bad quality, no downloadable drivers etc. Better to build one myself.

I am trying to get my home PC more quiet, and have switched my old CPU fan to a Zalman CNPS7700-CU. I soon will change the GPU and chassis fan to Zalmans too. I want to monitor the CPU temperature, and found SpeedFan, which can show a graph of the temperatures, read RPMs and voltages. It can also read S.M.A.R.T information from hard drives, if you want to know the health of your drives. HDD Health is another tool that can be helpful when monitoring drives, and can be set to trigger alarms on events.
